Dr. Frederic Kolb

Innovation Transfer Award—University of Illinois

Fred Kolb is the Cavanah Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics in the Crop Sciences Department at the University of Illinois. Dr. Kolb received his Ph. D. in Plant Breeding from Pennsylvania State University in 1987. Dr. Kolb’s research is on plant breeding and genetics in soft red winter wheat and spring oat, including variety and germplasm development and development of disease resistant varieties. Dr. Kolb teaches a course on Principles of Plant Breeding, and co-teaches Crop Sciences Professional Development. Since 2000, Dr. Kolb has also served as the Department of Crop Sciences Teaching Coordinator.
